Ohio-class

The Ohio-class refers to a series of large, nuclear-powered submarines used by the United States Navy. These submarines are designed for strategic deterrence, primarily carrying long-range submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). They are among the most powerful and silent military vessels, capable of staying submerged for extended periods, ensuring national security through their ability to threaten adversaries with nuclear response if needed. Ohio-class subs also serve in secondary roles, such as intelligence gathering. They are considered a cornerstone of the U.S. nuclear deterrence strategy, providing a secure and survivable means of maintaining strategic stability.
