Ogam
Ogham is an ancient writing system used mainly in Ireland and parts of Britain around the 4th to 9th centuries AD. It consists of a series of linear marks or strokes carved along the edge of stone or wood, representing letters. Each letter is made up of one to five notches or lines, which can be read in a specific order. Ogham was primarily used for inscriptions on monuments, boundary markers, and memorial stones, serving as a practical way to record names and messages in early Celtic culture.
