Ogaden Region

The Ogaden region is a historically Somali-inhabited area located in eastern Ethiopia, covering about 330,000 square kilometers. It is primarily inhabited by the Somali ethnic group and has been a focal point of territorial and political disputes between Ethiopia and Somalia. The region has a strategic importance due to its location and resources, including potential oil reserves. While Ethiopia administers Ogaden as part of its Somali Regional State, some Somali nationalists seek greater independence or unification with Somalia. The area has experienced conflicts and tensions related to ethnicity, identity, and autonomy over the years.
