"Offside"
In soccer, "offside" is a rule intended to prevent players from gaining an unfair advantage by waiting near the opponent's goal. A player is considered offside if, at the moment their teammate passes the ball, they are closer to the opponent’s goal line than both the ball and the second-last defender, and are actively involved in the play. Being offside stops play and results in a free kick for the opposing team. The rule encourages fair play and strategic positioning, ensuring players don't simply stay near the opponent's goal waiting for easy scoring opportunities.
