Offshore Seismic Survey
An offshore seismic survey is a method used by geologists and energy companies to explore beneath the ocean floor for oil, gas, or mineral resources. It involves sending sound waves into the seabed using specialized equipment, and then listening for the echoes that bounce back. These echoes reveal the structure and composition of underground rock layers, helping identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs. The process is similar to echolocation used by bats, but on a much larger scale, allowing scientists to map what lies beneath the ocean without drilling initially.
