Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OER)
The Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OER) is a division within the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that focuses on exploring and studying the deep oceans. Its mission is to discover new marine species, understand ocean ecosystems, and better grasp how oceans impact climate and weather. OER conducts advanced underwater missions, using sophisticated technology like remotely operated vehicles and submersibles, to gather data from the least explored parts of our planet. This knowledge helps inform conservation efforts, scientific research, and policy decisions related to ocean health and sustainability.
