Office of Marine and Aviation Operations
The Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) is part of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). It manages a team of highly skilled scientists and technical personnel who operate ships and aircraft. These resources are used for scientific research, environmental monitoring, and natural resource management. OMAO’s goal is to support NOAA’s missions by providing the transportation, equipment, and expertise needed to gather critical data about the oceans, weather, and the environment, which helps inform public safety, policy, and scientific understanding.
