ODP (Ocean Drilling Program)
The Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) was an international scientific initiative that conducted deep-sea drilling to study Earth's history and structure beneath the ocean floor. Using specialized drilling ships, scientists extracted core samples from beneath the seabed to analyze Earth's climate, tectonic activity, and geological evolution over millions of years. This helps us understand processes like earthquake activity, volcanic activity, and climate change, providing valuable insights into our planet's past and improving predictions for its future. The ODP was a collaborative effort, contributing significantly to oceanography, geology, and climate science before concluding in 2003.
