Odometer Fraud

Odometer fraud involves tampering with a vehicle’s odometer to show fewer miles traveled than it has actually driven. This deceptive practice makes a vehicle appear less used, often increasing its resale value. Fraudsters may roll back or electronically reset the odometer, misleading buyers into thinking the car is newer or has less wear than it truly does. It's illegal and can lead to buyers paying more for a vehicle that may require more maintenance sooner. To detect it, compare the odometer reading with service records and vehicle history reports.
