Ocular perfusion
Ocular perfusion refers to the flow of blood through the blood vessels in the eye, supplying it with essential oxygen and nutrients. It depends on a balance between blood pressure and the pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure). If blood flow is reduced, the eye may not get enough nutrients, potentially leading to damage such as optic nerve problems or vision loss. Maintaining proper ocular perfusion is crucial for eye health, especially in conditions like glaucoma, where increased pressure can decrease blood flow, risking the health of eye tissues.
