October War (Yom Kippur War)

The October War, also known as the Yom Kippur War, was a conflict in October 1973 between Israel and a coalition of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria. It began with a surprise attack during the Jewish Yom Kippur holiday, intending to regain territory lost in previous wars. The fighting took place mainly along Israel’s borders with Egypt and Syria. Although initially successful for the attackers, Israel eventually pushed back. The war highlighted ongoing tensions in the Middle East, led to negotiations for peace, and resulted in changes to regional political dynamics.
