October War
The October War, also known as the Yom Kippur War (1973), was a conflict between Israel and a coalition of Arab countries led by Egypt and Syria. It began on October 6, 1973, during the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, when Egyptian and Syrian forces launched surprise attacks to regain territories lost in previous wars. The fighting lasted several weeks, with intense battles in the Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights. The war ended with a ceasefire, leading to diplomatic efforts that eventually resulted in peace agreements, notably the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty of 1979.
