Occitan language

Occitan is a Romance language spoken primarily in southern France, as well as in parts of Italy and Spain. It evolved from Latin, like French, Spanish, and Italian, and has several regional dialects, such as Provençal and Languedocien. Occitan has a rich literary tradition and was historically used in poetry and songs during the medieval period. Although its use has declined over the years, efforts are underway to revitalize the language and promote its cultural significance. Today, it is recognized as a minority language and holds a place in regional identity and heritage.
