Occipital Face Area
The Occipital Face Area (OFA) is a specialized part of the brain located at the back of the head, inside the occipital lobe. Its primary role is to help us recognize and analyze faces by processing visual details such as features, spacing, and facial expressions. The OFA works in conjunction with other brain regions to interpret faces quickly and accurately, allowing us to identify individuals and read emotional cues. Essentially, it acts as a dedicated "face processor," playing a vital role in social interactions and visual perception.
