Obstetric brachial plexus palsy

Obstetric brachial plexus palsy is a condition that occurs when nerves in the neck and shoulder area, called the brachial plexus, are stretched or injured during childbirth. This can happen if a baby's shoulders are too broad or if extra force is used during delivery, leading to weakened or paralyzed arm muscles. The condition usually affects movements and sensation in the affected arm, with severity ranging from mild weakness to complete paralysis. Most infants recover with time and therapy, but some may require surgery or specialized treatment to improve function.
