Objectivity (philosophy)

Objectivity in philosophy refers to the idea that certain truths or facts exist independently of our beliefs, feelings, or perceptions. It suggests that knowledge can be obtained through unbiased observation, reason, and evidence, rather than personal opinions or preferences. For example, scientific facts aim to be objective because they are based on observable data that anyone can verify, regardless of individual perspectives. Opposing subjective views is the belief that some aspects of reality are universal and not influenced by individual differences, aiming for an impartial understanding of the world.
