NXIVM
NXIVM was an organization that billed itself as self-improvement and personal development company. Founded in 1998, it offered seminars claiming to help people achieve their goals. However, it became infamous when it was exposed as a secret cult involved in illegal activities, including coercion, manipulation, and branding members with symbols. The leader, Keith Raniere, was convicted of serious crimes such as racketeering, sex trafficking, and conspiracy. The case highlighted how some organizations can appear legitimate but conceal harmful practices, emphasizing the importance of critical awareness and skepticism regarding groups offering personal growth programs.
