Nuxalk language
The Nuxalk language is the traditional language of the Nuxalk Nation, an Indigenous group in British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the Salishan language family and has unique sounds, grammar, and vocabulary that reflect their cultural heritage. Although it faced decline due to historical colonization, efforts are underway to revitalize and preserve it through language programs and community initiatives. Nuxalk is an important part of their identity, connecting current and future generations to their history, stories, and land. Learning and maintaining the language supports cultural resilience and Indigenous pride.
