Nutritional Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

Nutritional Secondary Hyperparathyroidism is a condition often seen in animals caused by an imbalance in their diet, especially with inadequate calcium and vitamin D. This deficiency leads the parathyroid glands to produce too much hormone (parathyroid hormone), which steals calcium from bones to maintain blood levels. Over time, this can result in weak bones, deformities, and health problems. It is common in animals like cats, dogs, and livestock when dietary needs are not properly met, but can usually be prevented or managed through proper nutrition and medical care.
