Nurhaci was a 16th-century Jurchen leader who founded the Later Jin dynasty, laying the groundwork for the rise of the Qing Dynasty in China. He unified various Jurchen tribes, organized them into a structured military and political system, and established a strong state that expanded rapidly. Nurhaci is known for creating the Manchu identity, including the famous Eight Banners military system. His leadership transformed the Jurchen people into a formidable force, ultimately enabling his successors to conquer China and establish the Qing Dynasty, which ruled China from 1644 to 1912.
