Nuon Chea

Nuon Chea was a Cambodian political leader and a senior figure in the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979. Often called "Brother Numero Two," he played a key role alongside Pol Pot in orchestrating the brutal policies that caused the deaths of an estimated 1.7 to 2 million people through forced labor, starvation, and execution. After the regime’s fall, Nuon Chea was tried and convicted for crimes against humanity by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. His actions are recognized as part of one of the most devastating genocides in modern history.
