Nunatsiavut Government
The Nunatsiavut Government is the self-governing body representing the Inuit people of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. Established in 2005 through land claims agreements, it manages local affairs such as cultural preservation, education, health, and resource management. Nunatsiavut operates with its own elected officials and works in partnership with the Canadian government, aiming to preserve Inuit traditions while promoting social and economic development. It is a model of Indigenous self-governance, focusing on empowering the Inuit community to have greater control over their land, resources, and future.
