nucleoplasm

Nucleoplasm is the semi-fluid, jelly-like substance inside the nucleus of a cell, surrounding the genetic material (DNA and chromosomes). It provides a supportive environment where essential processes like DNA replication and gene expression occur. The nucleoplasm contains dissolved ions, enzymes, and other molecules that facilitate the transport of materials within the nucleus. It helps maintain the shape of the nucleus and plays a critical role in regulating the activities related to the cell’s genetic information. Essentially, nucleoplasm acts as the internal "soup" that keeps the cell's nucleus functioning properly.
