Nuclear fuel

Nuclear fuel is a material, usually uranium or plutonium, used in nuclear reactors to produce energy. Inside the reactor, the atoms of this fuel undergo a process called fission, where they split apart and release a large amount of heat. This heat is used to generate steam, which powers turbines to produce electricity. Unlike fossil fuels, nuclear fuel doesn’t produce carbon emissions during operation. It’s highly efficient but requires careful handling and disposal of radioactive waste. Overall, nuclear fuel provides a powerful and reliable source of electricity with a relatively small physical footprint.
