Nubian Pyramids
The Nubian Pyramids are ancient burial sites located in what is now Sudan, built by the Kingdom of Kush between about 800 BC and 350 AD. Unlike the more famous Egyptian pyramids, Nubian pyramids are smaller and have a steeper angle. They served as tombs for kings and queens, showcasing intricate burial practices and rich artifacts. There are over 200 known pyramids in the region, particularly in the sites of Merowe and Napata. These structures reflect the culture and power of the Kushite civilization, which thrived alongside ancient Egypt, sharing and adapting elements of its neighbor's architectural styles.
