Novellae
Novellae were additional laws or regulations enacted during the Byzantine Empire, particularly under Emperor Justinian I, after the initial major code of laws was issued. They often addressed new situations or clarified existing laws. Think of them as updates or amendments to a legal system, reflecting ongoing governance and societal changes. Unlike the original Code, which was a comprehensive collection, Novellae were smaller, more specific rulings issued over time, helping to adapt Byzantine law to changing circumstances.
