Notker Balbulus (c. 840–912) was a monk and scholar from medieval Germany, recognized for his contributions to religious music, poetry, and education at the Abbey of Saint Gall. He played a key role in developing Gregorian chant, a form of plainchant used in Christian worship. Notker was also a talented poet and teacher, helping to preserve and spread Latin literature and theology during his time.
