Norway’s history is shaped by its Viking past, with seafaring explorers and warriors during the early medieval period. It unified as a kingdom in the 9th century, influenced by Christianity and medieval unions. The country experienced periods of union with Denmark and later Sweden, gaining independence in 1905. Norway developed a strong maritime, maritime, and fishing industry, becoming a wealthy nation with a high standard of living. Post-World War II, it built a modern welfare state and discovered oil in the North Sea, which significantly boosted its economy.
