Norway Rat (Rattus norvegicus)
The Norway rat, or Rattus norvegicus, is a large, robust rodent commonly found worldwide, especially in urban areas. Originating from northeastern China, it has a brown or grayish coat, a heavy body, and a blunt, rounded face. Known for their adaptability, they thrive in sewers, basements, and trash areas, often living close to humans. They are nocturnal and omnivorous, feeding on a wide range of food. While beneficial in some ecological aspects, they are also considered pests due to their potential to spread diseases and cause property damage.
