Northwoods
The Northwoods refers to a series of secret plans by the U.S. military and government in the early 1960s aimed at justifying military intervention in Cuba. These plans involved false flag operations, such as staging terrorist attacks or sabotaging American interests, and then blaming them on Cuba to create public support for an invasion. The goal was to provoke a military response that would lead to regime change in Cuba. The plans were ultimately rejected, but they reveal intense Cold War-era debates over covert action and national security strategies.
