Northern Nigerian Regional Government
The Northern Nigerian Regional Government was a political entity that administered the Northern Region of Nigeria from 1954 to 1967, during Nigeria's transition from colonial rule to independence. It had its own regional government responsible for local governance, development, and administration within northern Nigeria. This regional structure was part of Nigeria’s federal system, designed to give different regions some level of autonomy based on ethnic, cultural, and economic differences. The Northern Region was one of three major regions at the time, and this arrangement helped manage regional concerns while Nigeria moved toward full independence in 1960.
