North Schleswig
North Schleswig, also known as Northern Schleswig or Southern Jutland, is a region in Denmark's southern part, bordering Germany. Historically, it was part of Denmark but was ceded to Germany after the Danish-Prussian war of 1864. Following World War I, a plebiscite in 1920 resulted in northern parts rejoining Denmark, creating the current border. Today, North Schleswig is characterized by a mix of Danish and German cultural influences, with bilingual communities, distinct regional identity, and a history that reflects both Danish and German heritage. It is an area of cultural diversity and cross-border cooperation within the Danish-German border region.
