North Pacific Gyre

The North Pacific Gyre is a large system of rotating ocean currents in the northern Pacific Ocean, driven by wind patterns and the Earth's rotation. It includes five main currents: the Kuroshio, California, North Pacific, Oyashio, and the North Equatorial Current. These currents circulate in a clockwise pattern, creating a vast, stable area of calm water called the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. This gyre plays a crucial role in climate regulation, nutrient distribution, and marine life. However, it also traps floating debris, including significant amounts of plastic waste, leading to environmental concerns such as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
