Norte Chico
Norte Chico, also known as the Caral-Supe civilization, was an ancient society that thrived around 3000 BCE along the coast of present-day Peru. It is considered one of the oldest known complex civilizations in the Americas. Norte Chico developed sophisticated cities with large architectural structures, including pyramids and plazas, and engaged in activities like agriculture, fishing, and trade. Unlike later civilizations, it lacked pottery and weapons but demonstrated advanced social organization and cultural practices. Its emergence marks a significant early step in the development of complex societies in the Americas, showcasing early urbanization and societal complexity.
