Norris Trophy

The Norris Trophy is an award given annually to the best defenseman in the National Hockey League (NHL). It recognizes the player who demonstrates outstanding skill, leadership, and effectiveness in preventing the opposing team from scoring, while also contributing offensively when possible. The award is voted on by the members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association, based on performance during the regular season.
