Norm-reference tests

Norm-referenced tests evaluate an individual’s performance by comparing it to a group or "norm" of similar individuals. The goal is to see how someone ranks relative to others, often using percentiles or standard scores. These tests are useful for identifying where a person stands in relation to peers, such as in standardized exams or intelligence assessments. They do not measure absolute knowledge or skill levels but instead focus on positioning within a larger population, helping educators and professionals understand relative strengths and areas for improvement.
