
Norm Groups
Norm groups are reference groups used to interpret individual test scores by providing benchmarks based on the performance of a specific population. For example, if a person takes an IQ test, their score is compared to the norm group—such as all people of their age or education level—to see how they perform relative to that group. Norm groups help ensure that scores are meaningful and comparable across different individuals and populations, acting as a standard to assess whether someone is above, below, or at the average within a relevant context.
