Norilsk

Norilsk is a major industrial city in northern Russia, located above the Arctic Circle. Known for its enormous mining and smelting operations, it produces significant quantities of nickel, copper, and other metals. The city is one of the world's coldest with long, harsh winters, and its remote location makes it challenging to access. Despite its rugged environment, Norilsk is a vital hub for resource extraction and metallurgy, but environmental concerns are notable due to heavy pollution from its heavy industry. Its unique setting and extensive industrial activity make it an important, if challenging, part of Russia’s resource sector.
