Nooristani languages
Nooristani languages are a group of languages spoken mainly in the Nuristan region of northeastern Afghanistan and parts of western Pakistan. They belong to the Indo-Iranian language family, which includes Persian and Pashto. These languages are diverse, with several different varieties that may not all be mutually understandable. Historically, they have been influenced by various cultures and languages, reflecting the region's complex history. Today, Nooristani languages are primarily spoken by local communities and are important for cultural identity, though many also speak more widely used languages like Pashto or Dari.
