Noor Mohammed Taraki

Noor Mohammed Taraki was an Afghan politician and revolutionary leader who played a key role in establishing the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) and was the country's first communist president in 1978. He aimed to modernize Afghanistan through social reforms but faced significant internal opposition. His leadership was marked by efforts to implement progressive policies, but his tenure also saw political instability and conflict. Taraki's rule ended when he was overthrown and killed during a military coup, leading to ongoing struggles in Afghanistan’s political history.
