Nonverbal cues
Nonverbal cues are signals we send and receive without words, such as facial expressions, gestures, posture, eye contact, and tone of voice. They help express emotions, attitudes, and intentions, often complementing or even overriding spoken language. Recognizing nonverbal cues can improve communication by providing insights into how someone truly feels or what they might be thinking. For example, crossed arms might indicate defensiveness, while a nod can show agreement. Being attentive to these cues helps in understanding others more fully and fosters more effective interactions.
