Nonstress test (NST) procedure

A Nonstress Test (NST) is a non-invasive procedure used to check a baby's well-being in the womb. During the test, sensors are placed on the mother's abdomen to monitor the baby's heartbeat and movements. The mother may be asked to press a button each time she feels the baby move. The test usually lasts about 20 to 40 minutes, during which healthcare providers assess whether the baby's heart rate responds normally to movements and occasional contractions. A healthy response indicates good blood flow and oxygen supply to the baby.
