Nonallergic Rhinitis

Nonallergic rhinitis is a condition that causes inflammation and swelling of the nasal passages without an allergic trigger. It can lead to symptoms like a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and postnasal drip. This inflammation can contribute to sinusitis, an infection or inflammation of the sinuses, because it obstructs nasal passages, trapping mucus and creating an environment for bacteria to grow. Unlike allergies, nonallergic rhinitis can be triggered by factors such as infections, certain medications, changes in weather, or irritants like smoke and strong odors. Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms and managing any underlying issues.
