non-union of fractures
Non-union of a fracture occurs when a broken bone fails to heal properly over time, despite adequate treatment. Instead of new bone forming across the fracture site, the healing process stops, leaving the bone broken or unstable. This can happen due to poor blood supply, infection, nutritional deficiencies, or excessive movement at the fracture site. Non-union may cause ongoing pain, swelling, and weakness, and often requires further medical intervention, such as surgery or bone grafts, to promote proper healing and restore function.
