Non-toxic multinodular goiter
A non-toxic multinodular goiter is a condition where the thyroid gland, located in the neck, develops multiple enlarged areas called nodules. Despite this enlargement, the gland still functions normally and produces appropriate levels of thyroid hormones, so symptoms related to hormone imbalance are usually absent. The swelling may be noticed as a visible neck lump or feeling of fullness. The exact cause isn't always known, but it often occurs in adults, especially with aging or iodine deficiency. Treatment varies and may include monitoring, medication, or surgery if the goiter causes symptoms or compresses nearby structures.
