non-premixed flames
Non-premixed flames occur when fuel and oxygen (or air) are introduced separately and mix gradually before burning. Unlike premixed flames, where fuel and oxidizer are combined beforehand, non-premixed flames develop at the interface where these gases meet and mix naturally, forming a visible flame. This process often produces a hotter, more efficient combustion with a characteristic yellow or blue color, depending on conditions. Such flames are common in industrial burners and gas turbines. The key feature is that the mixing and combustion happen simultaneously at the flame zone, allowing better control over the combustion process and emissions.
