Non-Jewish rescuers

Non-Jewish rescuers are individuals who, despite not belonging to the Jewish community, took significant personal risks to save Jews during times of persecution, particularly during the Holocaust. Their actions often involved hiding Jews, providing false papers, or offering shelter to protect them from Nazi authorities. These rescuers demonstrated extraordinary courage and moral conviction, acting altruistically to preserve life in the face of danger and certain punishment. Recognized globally for their selfless bravery, many of these individuals have been honored as Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to Holocaust victims.
