Non-anatomic Resection
Non-anatomic resection is a surgical procedure used to remove a tumor or damaged tissue from an organ, such as the liver, without strictly following the organ’s natural anatomical boundaries. Instead of cutting along specific structural areas, the surgeon removes the targeted tissue with some surrounding healthy tissue to ensure complete removal, often preserving more of the organ’s normal structure and function. This approach focuses on removing the disease effectively while minimizing damage to the rest of the organ, which can be particularly advantageous for patients with complex conditions or multiple lesions.
