Nitinol

Nitinol is a special type of metal made from nickel and titanium that can remember and return to its original shape after being bent or deformed. It has a unique property called shape memory effect, which allows it to "remember" a shape when heated or when stress is removed. Additionally, Nitinol exhibits superelasticity, meaning it can stretch significantly beyond ordinary metals and still bounce back without permanent deformation. Due to these features, Nitinol is used in medical devices like stents and guidewires, as well as in robotics and actuators, where flexibility and reliable shape-shifting are essential.
