Nisab
Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must possess before they are obligated to pay zakat, which is a form of charity. It acts as a threshold to ensure only those with sufficient assets contribute. Typically, nisab is calculated based on the value of 85 grams of pure gold or 595 grams of silver, depending on the context. If a person's savings, investments, or produce exceed this amount for an entire lunar year, they are required to give a specified portion (usually 2.5%) of their wealth to those in need.
